Desuperheater Spray Nozzle
The Fetterolf Desuperheater spray nozzle is used in a steam temperature control header. Its rugged yet simple design assures accurate steam temperature control. The Desuperheater nozzle is specifically developed for use on medium-, and high pressure steam applications. Its fabricated construction makes it easy adaptable to meet various boiler codes and material specifications.
Operation
Desuperheaters are used for temperature control of: boiler superheaters - boiler reheaters - turbine bleed steam - pressure reducing valve outlet steam - process steam and process gasses.
Water enters the first chamber from above through the main inlet opening. Passing the water through the first cone shaped orifice results in an increase in the fluid velocity. The water is subsequently rotated in the swirl chamber before being emitted through the central hole. The combination of the feed flow, increasing velocity and rotating effect, ensures that the water is injected into the system in a fine symmetrical hollow cone spray.
